Yourta Coffee
The taste of steppe hospitality
Yurta Coffee was inspired by the ethno-modern trend.
The establishment was created by friends who wanted not just to brew coffee,
but to tell the history and traditions of Kazakhstan. The design follows the
style of a traditional Kazakh yurt: Turkic ornaments, patterned carpets, Kazakh
melodies — elements of steppe life are organically integrated into a modern
concept.
Specialty: Unusual
drinks inspired by Kazakh culture. «Tary Latte» — coffee with added
ground tary (roasted millet), soft and slightly nutty in taste. «Zhent
Coffee» — espresso with the aroma of browned butter and the Kazakh dessert
zhent. «Balkaymak Raf» — creamy raf with honey and kaymak.
Additionally, try European classics with Kazakh flair: Caesar salad and
pappardelle with horse meat, and pizza with kazy.
London Paris
The spirit of old Europe in Astana
French charm, British restraint — London Paris seems
to invite you to slow down. The coffee shop has a European vibe: soft
armchairs, pastel tones, warm lamp light, and many elegant details. You can sit
for hours recharging with rafs and frappuccinos. By the way, coffee variations
with ice cream have their own dedicated menu section worth checking out.
Specialty: Breakfast at
any time of day. Want eggs Benedict in the afternoon? No problem. A fresh
croissant with coffee in the evening? Easy. The pastries at London Paris are
impeccable. The croissants are airy and crispy. Topping options include cheese,
ice cream, raspberry-granola, as well as with meat and fish fillings.
Basqur Specialty
Coffee against a carpet backdrop
Astana is a city of contrasts where futurism coexists
with national traditions; Basqur brings these worlds together. If you’re tired
of standard concepts and looking for a place with character, this is for you.
Basqur doesn’t resemble typical coffee shops with soft armchairs and romantic
lighting — it’s more of a stylish coworking space with industrial and national
accents. Strict interior lines coexist with national patterns, perfectly
matched with alternative coffee brewing methods — AeroPress, batch brew, and
rarer hoop and flash brew.
Specialty: A free 0.7L
water bottle — a rare sign of care in coffee culture.
Eagilik
Afternoon tea coffee
Eagilik is a refuge for book lovers, intellectuals and
creative people. The coffee shop offers free reading of books in Russian,
Kazakh and English, and with a membership you can take them home. Wooden
bookshelves, the aroma of coffee mixed with the smell of pages, quiet
background music — this is a place where it’s easy to lose track of time and
simply be. It is especially pleasant with a mint latte and homemade apple pie,
warm and fragrant like from grandma’s kitchen.
Specialty: Speaking Club
— English conversation clubs and IELTS preparation classes. Also literary
meetings, creative writing workshops, book discussions, and lectures by guest
authors.
For You by QG
Coffee and aesthetics for you
A coffee shop by the team behind the cult restaurant
Qazaq Gourmet. Aesthetics and harmony — two words that characterize this
project. The place is suitable for business meetings and solitary coffee
breaks. We recommend trying their signature latte — soft, rich, with a special
syrup that changes seasonally. The best snacks? Syrniki made from melted
irimshik in yogurt-mango sauce. Or an oatmeal pancake with apple, walnuts and
cinnamon with cream and boiled condensed milk mousse.
Specialty: Photo-worthy
interiors. Designer furniture, soft lighting, and thoughtful details — a
balance of simplicity and coziness.
Book Cafe
Coffee with the scent of pages
Another place for those who love to immerse themselves
in a book while hugging a coffee. Book Cafe attracts introverts, students and
anyone who appreciates an atmosphere of thoughtful solitude. It regularly hosts
book clubs, film screenings and workshops. The interior resembles a library:
warm lamp light, wooden shelves, cozy armchairs and the aroma of freshly ground
coffee mixed with the smell of books. Their signature spiced coffee or lavender
raf is the perfect «long reads» for a couple chapters. Don’t skip
their burgers either: you’ll likely fall in love at first bite.
Specialty: Bookcrossing.
You can take a book from the shelf to read, exchange your book for another one
or for free coffee, and with certain order amounts you get a book as a gift.
Culture Dictates
Coffee as art
A place that shaped the culture of alternative coffee
consumption in the capital and continues to inspire specialty coffee lovers.
The founders are baristas. They were among the first in Astana to seriously
cultivate a taste for alternative brewing methods and black coffee in general.
The cultural education here isn’t limited to coffee: the space periodically
hosts exhibitions by young artists and lectures on contemporary art.
Specialty: Beans from
around the world — from the Netherlands, Germany, Slovakia, Korea, UAE. Each
serving comes with a short story about coffee culture.
Bakerist
Where pastry is more important than coffee, but just a little
Bakerist is a place where coffee plays second fiddle
and pastries take the lead. The name combines «baker» and
«barista.» Here they bake croissants, eclairs, and tartlets, and the
smell of fresh bread promises a perfect morning. Think Bounty-flavored lattes
with a micro-croissant on top guaranteed — Instagram bait.
Specialty: Vibes of an
ultra-trendy Parisian bakery that respects classics but follows trends, like
flat and roll croissants. In February 2025 Bakerist hosted the first coffee
rave and plans to repeat daytime parties.
Holdmy
Futurism, speed and coffee
Holdmy is a refueling station for urban nomads,
designed with minimalist interiors and metal accents. It’s a convenient place
to work, have meetings, or just grab coffee to go. The strongest, most
hard-hitting caffeine boost is batch brew; the softer, more romantic option is
floral latte with blueberry and popcorn praline.
Specialty: Fast service
— no waiting for your latte to «ripe.»
Cult
A coffee shop created by baristas for baristas
Cult is a lab where coffee isn’t just brewed but
researched. Baristas will explain the difference between Kenyan and Colombian
beans, why one variety works better as filter coffee while another as espresso,
guide you through roasting and brewing process, and demonstrate what makes
coffee a great drink.
Specialty: Rare
varieties, including limited «guest» beans, alternative brewing
methods, and plant milk options.
Six Coffee & Wine
Coffee in the morning, wine in the evening
If truth is in wine, then emotions are in coffee. Six
Coffee & Wine is where morning coffee smoothly transitions to evening wine
glasses. Two drink cultures meet here, and the combination feels natural. By
day — work atmosphere, espresso and quiet music. By evening — soft lighting,
wine and life conversations. Six has a modern, stylish interior where the
spotlight is on the coffee machine and wine cabinet, symbolizing the
establishment’s two main passions. Since we’re all here for coffee, the main
ordering recommendation is the coffee set to sample three cups at once.
Specialty: Dual concept,
barista and sommelier in one.
Big Apple
A slice of New York (or Almaty) in Astana
Big Apple is a coffee chain inspired by the New York
atmosphere. Tthough originated in Almaty. According to the founders' concept, a
sip of hot filter coffee should momentarily transport you to Manhattan’s heart.
Urban style, high ceilings, brick walls, long wooden tables support the idea.
Specialty: Wide
selection of alternative black coffee brewing methods — pour over, Chemex,
American press, siphon, AeroPress, oriental coffee, and Australian lungo. The
menu has many «basic» options.
La Crème
French chic in Astana’s center
A pro-French bistro perfect for breakfast with
girlfriends and buying tickets to Paris. It features light interiors, panoramic
windows, soft armchairs, subdued music, and a display case that dazzles the
eyes. La Crème serves breakfasts in Les Deux Magots tradition, brews good
coffee and assembles boxes with handmade cakes as gifts or treats for yourself.
Specialty: Authentic
French pastries — almond croissants, baguettes, profiteroles.
Chekhov
Coffee, burgers and no comedies
If Anton Chekhov drank coffee in Astana rather than
Yalta, he might have chosen Chekhov. But the name references not the great
writer but Pavlodar city, where the chain’s first coffee shop opened (yes, on
Chekhov Street). The menu offers many signature coffee options: banana, melon,
cheese, Oreo, or lavender flavored.
Specialty: Powerful
burgers you wouldn’t expect to find in a coffee shop.
Karma Coffee
Fortune telling with coffee grounds
At Karma Coffee they believe: what you give to the
world is what you get back. Here they use beans from local farmers, have
recyclable packaging, minimize waste, and offer discounts if you bring your own
reusable cup. The soft lighting, intimacy, and ritualistic atmosphere of Karma
Coffee encourage conversations and reflections that might change your future
plans. This is a coffee shop with touches of mysticism, though not quite an
esoteric parlor. Still choosing between the «New Opportunities»
latte, mint-citrus «White Streak» coffee, or «Sex Today»
americano depends on completely different criteria.
Specialty: Tarot card
readings and coffee ground fortune telling.
